World's Best In-Home Water Filters

Why Use Shower Water Filters?

Why use shower water filters?  There are many reasons.  I’ll try to cover all of them in this article.

Let’s start with the cosmetic benefits.

Most people bathe more frequently than they actually need to for good hygiene. Staying clean is important, because it prevents overgrowth of bacteria and washes away viruses and fungi.  But, the average person showers every day.  Many people, particularly those that are very active, bathe twice a day.

Tap water, chlorine and other chemicals strip the skin and hair of their naturally protective oils.  The cleansers and shampoos that most people use strip even more of the oils away.  The result is dry skin and frizzy hair.

Unfiltered tap water changes the skin’s natural pH balance, as do most of the cleansers on the market.  The normal slightly acidic pH helps to protect against bacterial infections, such as those that occur in acne.  The more alkaline pH level created by frequent showering is a better environment for the acne-causing bacteria to grow.

The quality of a showerhead filter may vary, but the better ones balance the pH level, remove the chlorine and other chemicals that strip away the oils.  Showering in filtered water will make your hair and skin look better.  It will be healthier, too.  So, why use shower water filters?  You’ll look better, plain and simple.

But, the cosmetic benefits are really just a minor consideration.  If you want to do everything that you can for the health of your respiratory system and that of your whole body, you will stop showering in chlorine.

When the chlorine in publicly treated supplies is heated, chloroform gas and THMs form.  Chloroform is a known carcinogen.  It is rarely used as a sedative, anymore, because of that fact.  Studies indicate that most modern well-insulated homes have some level of chloroform gas in the air, due to showering in unfiltered water.

Most public facilities measure the amount of THMs that are present at the facility.  It must be below certain levels or “action” needs to be taken.

But, that measurement does not take into account the increase that occurs as the chemicals pass through the waterline or the amount that is released when the waters are heated.  Scientists say that the risk has been greatly underestimated.
So, why use shower water filters?  If you are showering in unfiltered water, you are releasing chloroform and other cancer-causing gases into your home every single day.

You inhale the chemicals and they are absorbed through your skin.  Studies indicate that more chemicals enter your bloodstream during a ten minute shower than if you drank an entire liter of unfiltered tap-water.  These things were never taken into consideration when the “safe” limits were established.

Scientists have warned of the risks for decades.  Finally, some of the mainstream doctors, even one with a daytime TV show, have begun warning the public.

We can reduce our risk of cancer, if we follow their advice.

Why use shower water filters?  You’ll live longer, that’s why.
